Access Information

Wheelchair Access

The main floor of the cathedral is wheelchair accessible via a side entrance. The pathways inside are wide, allowing for navigation through the nave and around the ambulatory. The Cathedral Treasury is also barrier-free. Accessible toilets are available near the tower entrance.

South Tower Climb

Please be aware that the South Tower is not accessible to wheelchair users or those with significant mobility impairments. Access is via a narrow, 533-step spiral staircase with no elevator.

Visitors with Visual or Hearing Impairments

Audio guides are available for rent, which can assist visually impaired visitors. Guided tours for the interior and treasury are barrier-free. Assistance dogs are permitted inside the cathedral.

Step-Free Entry

The main cathedral nave and the treasury are accessible without steps, ensuring a comfortable visit for wheelchair and rollator users.

Reduced Admission

Visitors with disabilities are eligible for reduced-price tickets for the Tower Climb and Treasury. A companion may also be eligible for free or reduced entry.

Assistance Dogs

Certified assistance dogs are welcome in all areas of the cathedral open to the public.

Accessible public restrooms are located on the south side of the cathedral, near the entrance to the tower.

Is there an elevator to the top of the tower?
No, unfortunately, due to the historic structure, it is not possible to install an elevator. The only way to the viewing platform is by climbing 533 stairs.
Can I rent a wheelchair at the cathedral?
The cathedral does not offer wheelchair rentals on-site. Visitors needing a wheelchair should make their own arrangements in advance.
Are the guided tours accessible?
Guided tours of the cathedral interior and the treasury are barrier-free and accessible to wheelchair users. Special tours of the roof or excavations are not.
